This song was inspired while reading the opening chapter of The History Of Western Philosophy and Theology by John M. Frame. This phenomenal book begins by examining a variety of worldviews and highlights the downfall of living a so-called autonomous life. Autonomy speaks of the right to govern our own lives yet Frame argues that true autonomy is actually a mirage because whether we acknowledge it or not God is God and He doesn't really need our permission or approval to sovereignly rule. Point! Ordinarily autonomy is something that is celebrated and considered to be a good thing, but from a biblical perspective freedom begins when we give up our rights; in doing so are embraced by The Ultimate Good, The Ultimate True and The Ultimate Beautiful. In 1989 I acknowledged my need for His reign and rule in my life and I began to experience His saving grace. I thank God that Christianity is a new life and a reformation of the heart where He liberates us from the illusionary impulses of the self life. God's grace is something worth shouting about as it faithfully calls us to live in Him and to know Christ as King. Jesus led the way in living a submitted life that was abandoned to the Father and I pray this song will bless you and encourage you to follow His incredible example.
